2007 One Particular Harbour

On July 7, 2007, the Dubuque Phlockers celebrated our 1-year annivesary and raised $2,793 for the benefit of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa and completely eclipsed the $1,800 goal we had set for the evening!

It was one of those perfect summer nights... warm temperatures with friendly parrotheads from around the Midwest all coming together to "party with a purpose... Dubuque-style!" Our evening began with ground transportation (courtesy of A-OK Yellow Cab of Dubuque) to the American Lady Yacht Cruise which sailed us from the harbour of the Dubuque Yacht Basin to the open water of the Mississippi River.

The river cruise concluded dockside at the harbour of The Dubuque Marina (for the first time ever!), home of The Dubuque Marina Yardarm where the second portion of our "party with a purpose" got underway.

While crusing on the river, our guests enjoyed beverage specials, door prizes, and live entertainment from Dubuque's own "Pirate Over 50," all made possible through Kirchhoff Distributing of Dubuque.

While at the Yardarm, our guests were entertained by The Cedar Island Band who kept the nautical theme going by treating the crowd to their first-ever performance of "Boats to Build."

The results of our efforts culminated on July 22, 2007, as Dubuque Phlockers club president Ladd Nelson presented a check for $3,000 to Jamie Dillman, Wish Granting Chair and Paula Baker, Outreach Chair of the Dubuque committee of Make-A-Wish of Iowa. Supporting the presentation are club members Ron Markus, Barb Markus, Bob Noel, Gina Noel, Jeff Sanderfield, Chris Sanderfield, and Laura Schauer. The donation included proceeds from Paradise in Peosta that was held in January, 2007.

The day was extra special as it also marked the 20th Year Anniversary celebration of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa! Over 20 Wish-families came together to celebrate and reflect on the wishes that have been (and are yet to be) bestowed to families around the Dubuque community!
