2006 Dog-o-ween Benefit for the Dubuque Humane Society

On Sunday October 29, 2006, members of the Dubuque Phlockers volunteered 10 man-hours of service as judges at the Dog-o-ween benefit for the Dubuque Humane Society. Over $650 was raised and donated to the Dubuque Humane Society through the combined efforts of event sponsor Theisen's and the Dubuque Phlockers! Another $400 in gifts and prizes were awarded to the contestants! The Dubuque Phlockers were honored to donate our $100 pledge during a remote broadcast through local radio station KGRR.

Over 80 dogs were enrolled in the event and all were a delight to watch. The variety of costumes that were paraded by the pooches were difficult to judge and in the end, a "dog-goned Mardi Gras" pair of costumed pooches took the grand prize.

The Phlock Judges the Dogs

The annual Dog-o-ween event is hosted and sponsored in large part by the local Theisen's implement store. The Dubuque Phlockers wish to thank the staff at Theisen's along with the other sponsors including KGRR for allowing us to assist them with this fine effort.

The Dubuque Phlockers would also like to recognize the efforts of Ron and Barb Markus and thank judges Kim Maiers, Bob Noel, Gina Noel, Chris Sanderfield and Ladd Nelson for donating their time!
